Additional more than EUR 9 m to modernize street lighting systems
One more stage of evaluation of applications to mordenize street lighting has ended this week. More than EUR 9 m were allocated to fund 14 projects to modernize street lighting.
„Better street lighting improves quality of life and safety of the people. We put maximum efforts to help as many municipalities as possible to achieve it, and we reached that goal – all municipalities that applied are getting funding and can implement projects fast“, - says acting minister of energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas.
Street lighting systems will be renovated in Klaipėda city and district, Kretinga, Visaginas, Šilalė, Kazlų Rūda, Elektrėnai, Kaunas city and district, Pilviškiai, Virbalis, Kybartai, Kaišiadorys, Širvintos, Alytus, Utenoje, Šiaulių mieste bei rajone, Palangoje, Biržuose, Neringoje, Lentvaryje, Trakuose, Druskininkai, Pasvalys, Plungė, Ukmergė, Marijampolė, Šilutė, Jonava, Skuodas, Telšiai, Vilnius city and district, Molėtai, Kėdainiai.
Final energy consumption will be reduced by at least 40% in modernized sections of the streets, project funds up to 50% of expenses.
Due to high demand it is planned to announce a new call in the end of December for funding of EUR 6.5 m.
