CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE DESIGNERS’ MEASURE

The call for applications for the measure ‘Paskatos dizaino kūrėjams: Dizaino sparnai’ (Incentives for Designers: Design Wings) has closed.

‘Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged under this measure to introduce design solutions that help the company to implement the principles of the digital or circular economy and increase the added value, supply and competitive advantage of products or services. It should be clarified that the companies benefiting from this call will not receive direct funding, but will be provided with the services of the Culture Council in the form of de minimis aid’, says Saulius Merkys, Acting Director of the LBSA.

‘This measure provides a subsidy only for activities that have not received funding under the ‘Creative Vouchers Covid-19’ measure administered by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation. The only possible applicant is the Lithuanian Council for Culture. SMEs will be able to seek advice from the Lithuanian Council for Culture on the development and implementation of design solutions for new products or services. It should be noted that consultations will only be provided for the design of products or services that are oriented towards the principles of the digital economy or the circular economy’, says Giedrė Indriulienė, Head of Business Sustainability Projects Division of the LBSA.

According to the principles of the digital economy, technologies or solutions are used when the production of a product or the process of providing a service is partly or wholly transferred from the physical to the digital, virtual environment, or when the services and processes (all or part of them) are performed remotely. Meanwhile, applicants seeking to develop product or service designs that implement the principles of the circular economy will have to ensure that at least one of the following changes will be implemented in the production of a new product or service provision process: reduction of waste generation; avoidance of waste generation; re-use of waste; reduced emissions; reduced use of resources; creation or improvement of the possibility of restoring the product manufactured by the SME; creation or improvement of the possibility of repairing the product manufactured by the SME; creation or improvement of the possibility of recycling the product manufactured by the SME.

A total of EUR 788,551 of the EU Structural Funds (European Regional Development Fund React-EU) is allocated for the implementation of this measure.
