EUR 6.5 M TO MODERNIZE STREET LIGHTING SYSTEMS

Almost EUR 6.5 m has been allocated to municipalities to modernize street lighting systems. All applying municipalities got funding.

„Modernization of street lighting infrastructure will not just contribute to achieving of strategic goals of Lithuania in energy efficiency, but also improve people’s everyday life with better lighting and safety during the night“, – claims vice minister of energy Daiva Garbaliauskaitė.  

During the next 2 years, street lighting systems will be renewed in Akmenė, Zarasai, Šilalė, Kretinga, Telšiai, Šilutė, Druskininkai, Klaipėda, Vilnius and Vilnius district, Plungė, Marijampolė, Kelmė, Palanga, Širvintos.

In 2020, more than EUR 21 m were allocated to 34 municipalities or municipal companies.

It is expected to renovate 74,000 street lamps, with energy savings reaching 20 GWh a year.
