RUSSIAN AND BELARUSIAN COMPANIES CAN BE EXCLUDED FROM PUBLIC PROCUREMENT PROCEEDINGS

On Wednesday, the Government approved proposals urgently prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation to exclude companies of countries hostile to our country from public procurement proceedings in Lithuania, or to terminate contracts already concluded with them.

It is proposed that in cases of mobilisation, war or emergency and other cases determined by the Government, the country’s contracting authorities could reject the tender from suppliers who are in various forms related to countries hostile to Lithuania or offer goods produced in those countries. In addition, it would be possible to terminate contracts already signed.

‘In this way, we seek to strengthen Lithuania’s national security interests and stop the possible financing of states hostile to Lithuania and their businesses. We suggest that the Seimas consider the law as a matter of urgency’, said Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of Economy and Innovation.

The list of countries or territories that could be subject to such sanctions will be approved by the Government.
