THE NEW CALL WILL PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL PRODUCTS

On the last day of 2021, the Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LBSA) and the Ministry of Culture published a call for proposals under the measure ‘Incentives for the Cultural and Creative Industries Sector to Develop Competitive Cultural Products’.

This measure is targeted at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the sector of creative and cultural industries (CCIs). The measure aims to encourage these enterprises to develop new, high value-added and competitive cultural and creative content, and form products by investing in new cultural and creative content and form products, services or business processes that promote a competitive digital and circular economy.

‘We want to encourage representatives of the creative and cultural industries to look for solutions that would not only benefit them but also contribute to the circular or digital economy’, says Saulius Merkys, Interim Director of the LBSA.

This may include the development and implementation of original design or marketing initiatives through artistic, cultural and creative expression seeking to improve the development of products and services, and business processes for digitisation and the promotion of the circular economy. It also covers the creation of digital and electronic platforms or similar channels for the dissemination of cultural and creative products or services, or the development of advanced, new forms of audio-visual, virtual, augmented reality or other cultural and creative products using digital technologies. Funding for the measure will cover the transformation of CCI cultural and creative products and services or business processes into new digital or circular economy promoting forms.

‘In the coming weeks, we plan to organise seminars where experts from various fields will help answer the questions from future applicants’, adds Giedrė Indriulienė, Head of Business Sustainability Projects Division.

The amount of funding for this measure varies by activity group. Up to EUR 4 million is planned for SMEs whose main economic activity is the production of films, videos and television programmes. SMEs whose main economic activity is included in other CCI economic activities will receive over EUR 6.5 million.

Applications for the call will be accepted until 21 February 2022.
